Horsing Around

            Hullo! Been busy running around the countryside these past couple days so no crafty posts for now. On lovely farmside news..we have a new foal! A beautiful, buckskinned bundle of joy.We lost his father recently :-( which was sad because he was a gift from our dad's bestfriend. So having the little one is a gift in itself.

            Here is our lovely afternoon together in the field, at which we brought along Hunter the Dane for some exercise. I have to mention that at some point the mama horse bit my arm hard!!! Ouchhh!! That's what happens when you try to take a photo beside a horse with your arms akimbo. They don't like that. No, they dont. 

            The baby does not have a name yet, we will wait for mother to give it. The other one beside it is its' brother from another father :-) This is after-all a normal horse family. Well, aside from the note that my over-alls were bought for P10.00 at the ukay-ukay...hope you enjoy my super-posed and not-posed-at-all photos and Hunter's action shots!

            Yes, Hunter is a skinny Dane hahaha. I always imagined
him to grow up to become as big as Scooby-Doo..instead he is looking more like Shaggy!

            Anyhoo..are you familiar with this image on the right? :-) It's one of those visual perception tricks and illusions and paradoxes etc. etc. etc. 

            We had to make many studies in UP Fine Arts based on these concepts. Hopefully, someone will come up with something iconic as this elephant (IMAGE FROME HERE) :-) I do not even remember what I made as it was so long ago..but I am sure it was pretty uninspired hahaha. Not a very good art student at all :-) 

            I brought this up because when I looked at the final photo below...well...maybe you can see what I mean? Hahahah was a bit confused with what belonged to whom. The elephant image just came up instantaneously in my head! Yey! I have recessive art student genes! Hahahha. 

            There you have it :-) Had to end it with an aged version of the Arms Akimbo shot. 

            Tomorrow my farm duties will be done for the week, and I will have time to mail out my blog give-aways.

Harvest Time

            Hullo! Took a trip to the farm yesterday for my weekly duties, and look at all the goodness we got to bring home! So thankful for the blessings of a harvest. Although, I am proud to note that some are harvested right outside the little green houses' overgrown garden :-)

Our lovely sampler, minus the lemons that were hiding so well in the kitchen we forgot to include them!

These are huge avocados, still green. We stick in them fridge till it turns a lovely purple color and then it is ready to be eaten, mashed, guacamoled or turned into ice cream! Yummy future for this one.

These are called Santol. It's tarty :-) I have nothing else to say haha.

These are Sayote/Chayote. They are growing profusely outside the little green house that at some point mother was scared it would eat the house up haha. All you need is to plant one of these, and you will have an endless supply. Good in soup or sauteed in garlic and oil.

Jalapeno's!! My pepper dreams have ofcourse come true :-). Someday I would like to own a collection of all the world's peppers. I now have quite a few, but these are by far my favorite. Wonderful as poppers, or on pizza, or on anything! But I usually slice them up and throw them in the pickle jar. (Please don't mind the ones turning yellow or growing old LOL :-) hadn't picked them out of the pack just as yet).

Over-ripe Jalapenos :-) I was saving these up for seed, but now....might turn them into Chipotle. Well, that is after my husband makes me a DIY smoker like this one.

Around the house

            End of the week, and family time..I ♥ Sundays. Hope everyone had a good weekend, wherever you are and whoever you are. Over here at the little house, we had a lovely time as our mother passed by and spent the night on Friday, and we had a lovely dinner out at Pine Hills hotel last night. And today, well, the sisters have been busy lazing around, and I set out to fix my smaller camera. :-) 

            Things I learned today: If you have a Canon g9, and the lens does not go back in, and there's an error...the good people at the Flickr g9 discussions have this advice: "slam it like slamming a fridge door shut". LOL. My camera, which I have not been able to use for so long is now back and working! I was a bit scared to smack it with my palm, specially as I had worked so hard to buy it! Well, overcoming fear has it's wonderful rewards. Tadah! I can now present you with some images for the Sunday Show & Tell!

When I wake up, one of the first things I see are: 1. This orange horse! (beside it is Deer Husband's insect-killing lampamathingie) 2. Polaroid of the boy & me, taken by our friend Ayla earlier this year. 

3. All the growing goodness! Mother grew these while I was away (except for the garlic chives, which were full grown when they came over from the ranch), and so when she was here, she cleaned them and made them all pretty! :-) The seeds I ordered of Ebay (they come out around P50.00/pack), and I am seriously praying these babies will grow to maturity. It would be great to have artichokes on this side of the world :-). There are many more growing around here, but that's for other Sunday Show & Tells.

Mother bought me and the sisters each a little something-something from the store at Pine Hills Hotel. If ever you are in Malaybalay, you should check it out :-) You never know what you'll find, like these: 4. pair of gorgeous vintage looking earrings for which I can't wait to match with my 40's outfits, and 5. Korean shoes for P380.00 that are cute AND comfy!

6. Clothespins dolls! What is not to love? :-) I nearly jumped for joy when I found these during my trip to Manila :-) I gave my other set to my cousin Pola who loves cute things just as much as I do (and who'se collection I have to shoot one day for Show & Tell) 7. My trusty Brother sewing machine which Deer and I got with some of our wedding money. This little trekker goes into a duffel bag and travels with me, even on a bus LOL.

8. Pyjamas for sister :-) We are going on a little trip this month with the family, and my sister said she would like to have matching pyjamas made. So far we have finished two of these, and I am working on the pattern for the top. The other sister wants one too, so it's pyjama season around here.

And last but not the least, this is me on a Sunday 9. doing preparation for 40's hair (effort-full!). LOL. Happy Sunday Everyone!!! Here's to a lovely week! xoxo
